Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon (Das Weisse Band) was the big winner at this year’s European Film Awards, taking awards for European film, director and screenwriter of the year. Every year, the various activities of the European Film Academy culminate in the ceremony of the European Film Awards. In a total of 15 categories, the European Film Awards annually honour the greatest achievements in European cinema. The 2009 Awards Ceremony took place in Germany’s Ruhr Metropolis.
